The world is constantly evolving, but one area that remains constant is the need for diversity and inclusion. Creating spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered is not just a moral imperative; it’s also crucial for innovation and growth. I’m excited to share my involvement in the “Unapologetically Us: Disabled, Proud and Resilient” series.

I’m thrilled to share that I’m now a published author in a Zine. The zine, Unapologetically Us: Disabled, Proud and Resilient, is a series of short stories focused on the experiences of disabled and neurodivergent individuals, as well as their allies, in the professional world. My story begins a series that brings forth the voices of those who are too often underrepresented in the professional realm of society.

When I saw the submission call, I knew I had to participate in this important literary work! I needed to be part of this collection for many reasons. The series serves as a platform to highlight lived experiences, valuable insights, and expert perspectives on disability, accessibility, assistive technology, alternative and augmentative communication, and the importance of inclusion and embracing unique perspectives. These topics resonate deeply with me as they reflect my own daily experiences.

The book features contributions from a variety of individuals, including:

  • Disabled and neurodivergent trailblazers who have broken down barriers and challenged stereotypes and preconceived notions.
  • Assistive technology experts who use accessible technology solutions.
  • Resilient members of the disability community who have overcome challenges.
  • Champions of inclusive workplaces who have fostered inclusive cultures and supported the use of assistive technology and alternative and augmentative communication.

I’m proud to have contributed my story and insights to this series. It allowed me to reflect on my journey, the challenges I’ve encountered, and the lessons I’ve learned. I hope that my contribution will resonate with readers and motivate them to build more accessible, inclusive, and equitable environments in their own communities and workplaces.

By sharing our stories and knowledge, we aim to encourage greater understanding, empathy, and a shared commitment to a more inclusive and accessible world for everyone. Through our collective efforts, we can truly make a difference!Click on the following link to read my story: https://www.flipsnack.com/A58FF588B7A/zine-1/full-view.html
