Voiceitt: A Gamechanger in my Daily Life
On November 8, 2023, I had the opportunity to present at AATC24, a conference hosted by ARATA. I spoke about my experiences using Voiceitt, a speech recognition software designed for people with non-standard speech.
Voiceitt leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to create a more inclusive world, and it has had a significant positive impact on my daily life. In the past, I envied those who could effortlessly use speech-to-text and voice commands. Thanks to Voiceitt, I can now do the same, which has greatly increased my productivity and efficiency.
Previously, I relied on head-tracking software and an on-screen keyboard to type—an approach that was time-consuming, physically demanding, and exhausting. With Voiceitt, I can focus on my thoughts instead of the mechanics of typing, allowing my writing to improve as I concentrate more on my ideas. Tasks like writing blog posts and emails now take half the time they used to.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share how Voiceitt is using AI to foster inclusivity for people with non-standard speech. Additionally, I truly enjoyed connecting with others at the conference and engaging in meaningful discussions about accessibility and technology.
My AAC Journey: Speaking Up at the WINS AT Awareness Event
On Wednesday, November 20, I spoke at an AT Awareness event about my professional and personal experiences using AT and AAC. The event, hosted by Wilson Inclusive Solutions (WINS), provided a platform for attendees to learn more about AT and AAC and their benefits, challenges, and strategies for supporting individuals who use AT and AAC.
I shared my challenges in communicating without speech and how AT and AAC have empowered me to express myself more accurately and engage with others more effectively. I also emphasized the importance of fostering inclusivity and understanding in society to ensure that individuals who rely on AAC can fully participate in all aspects of life.
It was an enriching experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a panelist, share my perspective, and raise awareness about AT and AAC.
